ESTABLISHING YOUR INDEPENDENCE ONLINE
There are a number
of franchise and co-branding opportunities available in business to help build
credibility for a new or existing business. With a franchise, the franchise owner
spends lots of money on branding the franchise. With co-branding opportunities,
two or more companies can share the cost of branding. The same holds true online.
Franchisees can rely on the franchisers to brand their business just as real
estate agents and mortgage bankers can rely on their parent company to brand
their services.
However, as a franchise owner, co-brander or independent consultant
under an existing brand, establishing your individual online Web
presence is still vital to the success of your business. If you're
in the insurance business, for example, the parent company spends
millions of dollars advertising the national brand. However, there
may be 100 independently owned insurance offices in your city that
also sell insurance under this brand. It would be very difficult
for the average consumer to happen across your independent office
by relying on the national branding and parent company's national
Web site. The potential to lose business to your competitor offices
and franchises selling under the same national brand is very likely.
By establishing your individual online Web presence, you can be sure
that the leads generated by your Web site will be specific to your
individual business. The same example happens in the real estate
and mortgage industry as the leads generated on the corporate Web
site don't always get filtered to you as the individual. Who's to
say which person gets the leads generated from the Web site? By having
your own individual Web presence, you can be sure the leads are filtered
directly to you.
Many franchises, real estate offices, insurance companies, etc. will
allow the individual (consultant, office, franchisee) to maintain
their own Web presence in addition to relying upon the national brand.
Many of these companies will also link to the individual Web site
from the national Web site which can help drive traffic to the independent
site which can generate leads for your business.
If you are in an industry in which you compete with others under
the same brand, consider the opportunities that may be available
by establishing your individual online Web presence.
