GETTING ONLINE CUSTOMERS TO BUY A SECOND TIME
You made your first
online sale to a new customer. Congratulations! However, getting
customers to buy a second time from your Web site may be a challenge.
Here are 7 ways to make the second sale
easier:
1. Follow up after the first sale with a "thank you" email
in which you can introduce other products you carry.
2. Ship the product in about the time you state on your Web site.
If for whatever reason, you cannot ship the product when you said
you would ship it, offer to discount the cost of shipping or provide
them a discount on a future purchase because of the problem. Always
communicate openly with customers because they may be in a rush or
anxious to receive what they bought.
3. Stand behind your products. If the product ordered didn't live
up to what the customer expected, offer a no hassles return policy.
If customers know they can easily return something, they are more
likely to order from you again.
4. Make sure customers have an easy way to get a hold of you. If
they have questions about the product ordered, be available during
normal business hours and respond quickly to questions via email.
5. Don't let customers forget your Web site address. Always include
your Web site information in your product package. A good way to
remind them of your company is include a pen or other giveaway in
the package that a customer will keep and be constantly reminded
from where they last ordered.
6. Your customer service team must be trained in the products you
sell in order to answer any questions and resolve any problems customers
may have. Your customer service team can make or break future sales.
7. Always upsell. When customers are in the buying mood, they are
likely to buy related products at the same time. Make sure to advertise
these related products at the time of sale and just after the sale.
