6 WAYS TO MAKE MONEY FROM YOUR WEB SITE
In most cases, the
main focus of a business Web site is generating income. Whether you want to leverage
your existing Web site or create a new online business, you can do so using any
or all of the following 6 ways to make money from your Web site.
1) SELL YOUR PRODUCTS
The most flexibility you have comes when you are selling your own
products directly from your Web site. Since you control the price,
delivery and purchasing of the goods to sell, you are able to maximize
your profits by offering whatever markup you wish on these products.
Since you aren't acting as a middle man, you aren't at the mercy
of anyone else and by providing fast service with competitive prices
you'll keep customers coming back for more.
2) SELL YOUR SERVICES
Selling services online can be profitable whether you're a dentist,
auto mechanic, business coach or a fitness trainer. It's very easy
to get started selling a service online and you don't need to worry
about inventory, vendor relationships or returns. However, when you're
selling a service, the revenue potential is limited because you're
not selling a physical product that can stored and shipped -- you
can only sell as much service as you have time to spare.
When selling a service, you must build a credible relationship with
potential customers to establish rapport with your visitors. You
need to portray the benefits of using your service and get across
the value of having you provide this service.
3) SELL DROP SHIP PRODUCTS
Drop shipping products is defined as an arrangement whereby a mail-order
or Internet merchant accepts orders for products and then pays a
manufacturer or distributor to ship the product to the customer.
In this case you don't have to worry about tracking inventory, having
warehouse space or developing a comprehensive shipping/receiving
system. You simply handle the orders from customers and customer
service. The drawbacks can be that now you are working as a middle
man and don't have the same flexibility of selling your own products.
4) SELL ADVERTISING
At many Web sites you visit, you've probably noticed banner ads across
the top or along the side. Most content oriented Web sites earn their
money by selling advertising space. Companies will pay good money
to target a particular audience, so the more specific your audience
is, the more money you can garner from that audience. If you have
an existing Web site with a lot of visitors, you may be able to turn
that traffic into paid advertising.
5) SELL AFFILIATED PRODUCTS
Affiliate programs, also called associate programs, are arrangements
in which an online merchant Web site pays affiliate Web sites a commission
to send them buyers. In this case, you simply list products for sale
at other Web sites. In effect, you are creating a no-risk joint partnership
between your Web site and an online merchant Web site. You simply
direct traffic to their Web site and earn commissions when people
buy products. This type of Web site is very simple to setup, however,
it requires a large amount of visitor traffic to earn significant
money. It's easy to complement an existing Web site with affiliate
links for offering related products to your visitors and, at the
same time, earning money.
6) START AN AFFILIATE PROGRAM OF YOUR OWN
If you currently make money from your Web site or plan on making
money, one way to increase your profits is to start your own affiliate
program. By creating an affiliate program, you recruit other Web
sites to promote your products and services. There's no risk to you
and your affiliates. They can make money by sending customers your
way and you only pay commissions when referrals buy from you. Affiliate
advertising is a very effecting means of advertising and is really
the only way to ensure that your ad dollars are not wasted.
If you currently aren't making money from your Web site, now is the
time to implement an e-business solution that incorporates the many
ways you can profit online.
